Ather Electric Scooters Set to Get Costlier From January 1, 2026

Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy has announced a price increase for its entire scooter lineup, set to take effect from January 1, 2026, citing rising costs of raw materials, global supply chain pressures and adverse foreign exchange movements.

According to company communications and industry reports, prices across popular models — including the Ather 450 series and the family-oriented Ather Rizta — will increase by up to ₹3,000. This revision reflects ongoing inflationary pressures on key components such as electronics, batteries and materials used in manufacturing electric scooters.

Price Hike Details: What Buyers Should Know

Ather currently offers a range of electric scooters that includes performance-oriented and commuter-friendly models. Before the upcoming price revision, ex-showroom prices for its scooters were typically in the range of approximately ₹1.14 lakh to ₹1.83 lakh (ex-New Delhi) depending on the model and variant. With the new pricing structure, customers will see an increase of up to ₹3,000 across the range.

The price hike applies to multiple models in the portfolio:

  • Ather 450 Series — known for its sporty performance and advanced features
  • Ather Rizta — positioned as a family-oriented electric scooter
  • Other variants under the 450 and Rizta umbrellas

The exact increase will vary by model and variant.

Why Are Prices Increasing?

Ather Energy has attributed the price revision to broader economic challenges affecting the EV industry, including:

  • Rising global raw material costs
  • Increase in key electronic components prices
  • Unfavourable foreign exchange rate movements

These factors have collectively increased production expenses, prompting the company to adjust retail prices to maintain operational sustainability.

Current Offers: Last Chance to Save

For buyers who were considering a purchase, Ather is currently running its ‘Electric December’ campaign across select cities. Under this program, customers can avail benefits of up to ₹20,000 on select models, which may include:

  • Cash discounts
  • Exchange offers
  • Extended warranty add-ons
  • Other dealer or financing incentives

These offers are valid until December 31, 2025, providing a window to lock in lower effective pricing before the January increase kicks in.

Industry analysts note that while the headline sticker increase is ₹3,000, the effective price difference between the current offers and post-January pricing — when combined with December incentives — could be higher, especially on models with larger incentives.

What This Means for Buyers

Buyers who were planning to purchase an Ather scooter early in 2026 may now need to weigh the cost impact of the upcoming hike. With the ex-showroom prices going up and December offers expiring at the year end, prospective customers could benefit financially by completing transactions before January 1, 2026.

For many EV enthusiasts, the annual timing of price adjustments is not uncommon and often reflects broader supply chain and macroeconomic trends in the electric mobility sector.

Outlook for Ather Energy

Ather Energy remains one of India’s leading electric scooter manufacturers, known for premium performance scooters and a growing dealership and experience centre network. The company’s price adjustment decision mirrors similar cost pressures seen in other segments of the automotive industry.

Prospective buyers and investors will be watching how demand patterns evolve in response to the price changes in early 2026, especially as electric two-wheeler adoption continues to rise across urban and semi-urban markets in India.
