Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

One of the first in line is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, which will effectively serve as Toyota’s version of the Maruti e-Vitara. While the mechanical package is expected to remain identical, Toyota has given the SUV a distinct identity through its signature hammerhead-inspired front design. Slim headlamps and a cleaner grille layout set it apart visually from its Maruti counterpart. The Ebella is expected to be offered in the same 440 km and 543 km front-wheel-drive variants and could be priced from around ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom). Its launch is anticipated later this month.
Nissan Tekton
Nissan is also preparing to strengthen its presence in the mid-size SUV segment with the introduction of the Nissan Tekton. The Tekton will share its underpinnings and mechanical components with the new Renault Duster but will carry distinctive styling inspired by the seventh-generation Nissan Patrol. Sharper body lines and a bold exterior design are expected to differentiate it visually. While mechanically similar to the Duster, the Tekton is likely to be positioned at a slightly higher price point. Its unveiling is anticipated in March, followed by a launch in April.

Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster is also set to make its long-awaited comeback in March. The new Duster adopts a more contemporary design while retaining its rugged character. The cabin will see a significant technology upgrade, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Additional features such as ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof are expected to be part of the package. At launch, the SUV will likely be offered with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engines. A 1.8-litre petrol-based hybrid system is expected to follow later in the year, possibly around September or October. Pricing could begin between ₹10 lakh and ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it aggressively in the segment.
Tata Sierra EV.
Tata Motors will further expand its electric portfolio with the introduction of the Tata Sierra EV. While visually similar to the internal combustion Sierra, the EV variant will feature a cleaner front-end design and subtle styling tweaks. Inside, the SUV is likely to receive a revised colour theme and updated software interfaces. The Sierra EV is expected to be offered in a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration delivering an estimated range of around 550 km, along with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant for enhanced performance. The model could be unveiled in March and launched by April.
Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen will round off the list with a facelifted version of the Volkswagen Taigun, expected to debut in April. The refreshed Taigun will feature updated headlamps, redesigned bumpers and new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheel options. Interior enhancements are likely to include rear-seat massage, a larger digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof. Similar to the updated Kushaq, the Taigun will replace its existing 6-speed automatic transmission with a new 8-speed automatic unit to improve overall performance and efficiency.
Collectively, these six upcoming launches underline the intense competition in the mid-size SUV segment. With a combination of internal combustion engines, hybrid systems and fully electric options, automakers are clearly aligning their strategies with evolving consumer demand and regulatory trends. The coming months are expected to witness aggressive pricing strategies and feature-rich offerings as brands vie for dominance in one of India’s fastest-growing automotive categories.
