Mahindra XEV 9S Electric 3-Row SUV Launching Nov 27

Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to take a major step forward in its electric vehicle journey, as the company gets ready to introduce the Mahindra XEV 9S toward the end of the month. Scheduled for launch on November 27, 2025, in Bengaluru, the XEV 9S will officially become Mahindra’s first pure-electric SUV to offer a full three-row seating layout. Until now, Mahindra’s born-electric lineup has been restricted to two-row EVs, and the arrival of the XEV 9S marks a significant expansion into the family-oriented, seven-seater EV category.

A newly released teaser now confirms several exterior and interior elements that were previously seen only on the XUV.e8 design study. At the front, the XEV 9S adopts a far more futuristic look than the ICE-powered XUV700. The familiar headlamp identity of the XUV700 has been replaced with a stacked LED headlight arrangement, which instantly gives the SUV a modern EV character. A closed-off front grille, a clean and sharp LED light bar, and boomerang-shaped daytime running lights add a distinct personality to the XEV 9S, differentiating it from Mahindra’s conventional SUV lineup.

Mahindra XEV 9e – Tripple Screen Setup

Inside the cabin, Mahindra has followed a theme similar to the XEV 9e, with the dashboard now dominated by a full-width triple-screen display setup. The teaser showcases a bright and elegant interior colour scheme, complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel carrying the updated Twin Peaks logo. The presence of a shark fin antenna at the rear is also visible. However, the most significant interior highlight revealed so far is the design and comfort of the second row. @timesmitra

Mahindra has confirmed that the Mahindra XEV 9S will offer Boss Mode in the second row — a feature typically associated with premium chauffeur-driven SUVs. This includes reclining rear seats that allow the occupant to stretch out in added comfort. Enhancing the sense of space further is a large panoramic sunroof, extending across the cabin and allowing ample natural light to filter in. The second row looks spacious and carefully designed for those who prefer to be driven around. Although the teaser does not reveal much about the third row, Mahindra is expected to share these details closer to launch.

Mahindra XEV 9e – exterior

Underneath its stylish exterior, the Mahindra XEV 9S is built on Mahindra’s flexible and modular INGLO platform, the same architectural base used for the XEV 9e and BE 6. This shared platform suggests that the XEV 9S will likely feature similar battery and motor setups as its siblings. However, because of its larger body and additional seating row, slight variations in performance, acceleration, and efficiency are expected. Despite this, Mahindra is reportedly aiming for a realistic driving range of over 500 km per charge, which would make the XEV 9S one of the top contenders in the three-row EV space.

In terms of features, Mahindra seems to be equipping the Mahindra XEV 9S with an extensive list of comfort, convenience, and safety technologies. The SUV is expected to debut with powered front seats that also offer ventilation and memory functions, giving occupants a premium experience. The triple-screen layout is part of a full digital ecosystem, offering connected features and seamless UI transitions. For safety, the Mahindra XEV 9S will include Level 2 ADAS, incorporating systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other advanced driver assistance tools. Mahindra will likely offer six airbags as standard, along with adjustable headrests for all passengers, wireless smartphone charging, and multiple comfort-oriented features. @timesmitra

With its combination of futuristic design, a luxurious multi-screen cabin, long-range capability, and the practicality of three-row seating, the Mahindra XEV 9S is shaping up to be one of the most significant EV launches in India. It represents a major step in Mahindra’s electric roadmap and expands the brand’s EV portfolio into a new segment aimed at families and premium buyers looking for space, comfort, and cutting-edge technology in an all-electric package.
