The Indian electric vehicle market is currently undergoing an aggressive evolution, and Tata Motors is comfortably leading the charge. To solidify its iron grip on the segment and outpace looming competition from Hyundai, Kia, and Mahindra, the homegrown automaker has officially greenlit an intensive 3-SUV offensive slated for completion by late 2026.

According to latest insights from industry tracker CarLelo, Tata is shifting its focus from mass-market hatchbacks to high-margin, feature-loaded e-SUVs. Covering everything from nostalgic 5-seater lifestyle revivals to ultra-premium luxury sportbacks, here is a breakdown of the three flagship electric SUVs launching over the next few months.

1. Tata Sierra EV

The highly anticipated Tata Sierra EV is no longer just a concept showpiece. Tata Motors’ MD & CEO, Shailesh Chandra, recently confirmed that the launch window for this iconic nameplate is locked for the second quarter of FY2026-27—meaning we will officially see it debut between July and September 2026.

Positioned strategically right above the Curvv EV and beneath the flagship Harrier EV, the Sierra EV is built on Tata’s advanced acti.ev+ platform.

Key Technical Expectations:

  • Seating Capacity: 5-Seater Premium Cabin
  • Drivetrain Layout: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) & All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
  • Battery Capacities: 65 kWh and 75 kWh packs (Sourced from the Harrier EV ecosystem)
  • High-Tech Features: Integrated Drive Unit (IDU), Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging support, and a massive triple-screen mobile dashboard.
  • Estimated Pricing: ₹17.5 Lakh – ₹22 Lakh (ex-showroom)

Design-wise, the Sierra EV retains the legendary “glass house” rear styling and a clamshell tailgate that defined the original 90s model, modernizing it with a completely blanked-out front fascia, razor-thin LED lightbars, and clean aerodynamics.

2. Tata Safari EV

Families looking for a zero-emission highway cruiser won’t have to wait long. Tata is preparing to launch the massive Safari EV around the 2026 Diwali Festive Season. It will stand as Tata’s first official 3-row electric vehicle, taking on the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9S.

The Safari EV will bypass smaller battery architectures to directly inherit the heavy-duty 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs utilized by its sibling, the Harrier EV. Given that the Harrier EV claims a certified MIDC range of 538 km with the smaller 65 kWh pack, the massive Safari EV is comfortably expected to target a real-world highway range of 450+ km on a single charge.

By late 2026 or early 2027, Tata Motors will officially step out of the budget bracket and break into the true luxury car space. Operating under Tata’s brand-new standalone premium EV sub-brand, Avinya, the first commercial product will be an ultra-sleek, 5-seater premium electric sportback.

Unlike any current car under the Tata umbrella, the production-spec Avinya will completely ditch local ICE platforms. Instead, it is engineered around a heavily localized derivative of Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) globally acclaimed 800V EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform.

💡 The Premium Edge: The Avinya series will feature a radically flat interior floor, maximizing space to replicate a lounge-like luxury room inspired by modern Range Rovers. Thanks to its native 800V architecture, it will support extreme ultra-fast DC charging—allowing drivers to juice up to 500 km of driving range in less than 30 minutes.

The Avinya EV will not be sold in standard Tata showrooms; it will debut through exclusive, highly premium dedicated retail outlets to ensure an upscale customer experience. Prices are expected to commence around ₹35 Lakh to ₹40 Lakh.

What makes Tata’s incoming SUV trio a masterstroke is the complete lack of overlap. The Sierra EV appeals to structural design purists and lifestyle off-road enthusiasts looking for AWD capabilities. The Safari EV secures the practical, high-volume large family segment. Finally, the Avinya EV shifts the brand’s perception from a local manufacturer to a globally competitive premium technology powerhouse.

Competitors like the Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Syros EV certainly have their work cut out for them.
