Hyundai Motor India delivered a strong recovery in Hyundai July 2026 Sales, with several of its key models posting significant year-on-year gains. After a difficult June affected by production disruption, Hyundai’s overall domestic retail volume climbed to 54,210 units, up 23.28% from 43,973 units in July 2025. Sales also jumped 36.77% month-on-month from 39,635 units in June 2026, highlighting a sharp recovery in overall vehicle availability and retail momentum.
The biggest headline came from the Hyundai Creta, which returned to the top of the company’s sales chart with 18,088 units. The Venue remained firmly in second place, while the Exter and i20 also made a strong contribution. Interestingly, the i20 emerged as Hyundai’s fastest-growing model on a month-on-month basis, showing just how sharply its sales recovered after the June slowdown.
Creta Returns To The Top With 18,088 Units
The Hyundai Creta was once again the undisputed volume leader in July. Including the electric version, the SUV recorded 18,088 retail sales, accounting for 33.37% of Hyundai’s total domestic volume. Compared with July 2025, Creta sales increased 7.04% from 16,898 units. The bigger story, however, was its month-on-month recovery, with July sales jumping more than 150% from just 7,168 units in June as production and vehicle availability improved.

This recovery also highlights the importance of the Creta to Hyundai’s overall performance. More than one-third of the company’s July retail volume came from this single model, making it by far the most important nameplate in Hyundai’s current portfolio. The result is particularly significant after the Creta’s unusually weak June performance, when supply disruption had a major impact on Hyundai’s production and retail availability.
Venue Holds Second Spot As Demand Remains Strong
The Hyundai Venue continued its impressive run in July, recording 11,095 units and securing second place in Hyundai’s sales ranking. Venue sales grew 37.76% year-on-year, compared with 8,054 units in July 2025, while the model also improved 2.96% over its June figure of 10,776 units.
The Venue’s performance is particularly interesting because it follows a strong June in which it temporarily overtook the Creta to become Hyundai’s best-selling model. While the Creta reclaimed the top position in July, the Venue remained comfortably ahead of the Exter and other Hyundai models. Its continued momentum shows that Hyundai’s compact SUV strategy remains extremely important, attracting buyers looking for a smaller, feature-rich SUV without moving into the higher price bracket of the midsize Creta.

Exter Stays Strong Despite A Monthly Dip
The Hyundai Exter finished July with 6,810 units, making it Hyundai’s third-best-selling model for the month. Its year-on-year performance remained impressive, with sales increasing 34.19% from 5,075 units in July 2025. However, unlike the Creta and Venue, the Exter saw a month-on-month decline, with sales falling 16.48% from 8,154 units in June.
Even with this monthly drop, its strong year-on-year growth confirms that the compact SUV continues to hold an important position in Hyundai’s lineup. The Exter also gives Hyundai a strong entry point into the SUV market, sitting below the Venue while offering buyers a smaller and more affordable alternative.
i20 Delivers The Biggest Surprise
The biggest turnaround came from the Hyundai i20. The premium hatchback recorded 6,738 units in July, almost doubling its year-on-year sales with a 98.41% increase over 3,396 units in July 2025. Its month-on-month recovery was even more dramatic, with sales jumping 268.60% from just 1,828 units in June, making it Hyundai’s strongest monthly growth story in the latest sales breakup.
The result also shows that Hyundai’s recovery in July was not limited to SUVs. While Creta and Venue continued to dominate the brand’s volume, the i20 provided a major boost from the premium hatchback segment.

Aura, Grand i10 Nios And Premium Models Complete The Lineup
The Hyundai Aura remained one of the brand’s steady performers in July, recording 5,817 units. Sales increased 25.47% year-on-year from 4,635 units, although they were marginally lower than the 5,977 units registered in June. Its consistent volumes continue to make the Aura an important part of Hyundai’s sedan portfolio.
The Grand i10 Nios also posted year-on-year growth, with 4,055 units sold in July compared with 3,559 units a year earlier. However, its month-on-month performance declined 16.65% from 4,865 units in June, showing that Hyundai’s recovery was not uniform across the entire lineup.
At the premium end, the Alcazar recorded 862 units, down 39.25% year-on-year but sharply higher than its June figure of 304 units. The Verna registered 737 units, declining 10.77% year-on-year while improving 33.03% month-on-month. The IONIQ 5 remained a niche product with just 8 units, while the Tucson recorded no retail sales in the reported month.
Creta And Venue Continue To Drive Hyundai’s Sales
The July sales breakup makes one thing clear: Hyundai’s recovery was largely powered by its highest-volume models. The Creta alone contributed 33.37% of the company’s total domestic retail sales, while the Venue added another 20.47%. Together, the two SUVs accounted for more than half of Hyundai’s July volume.
The i20 delivered the biggest year-on-year and month-on-month turnaround, while the Exter continued to post healthy annual growth despite its monthly decline. This combination of strong SUV volumes and a sharp hatchback recovery helped Hyundai post a much stronger July after the weakness seen in June.
Hyundai’s 54,210-unit retail performance in July 2026 represents a substantial recovery, with domestic sales rising both year-on-year and month-on-month. The Creta remains the undisputed volume leader, the Venue continues to build momentum, and the i20’s dramatic recovery stands out as the month’s biggest surprise.
The numbers also show that Hyundai’s portfolio is being driven by a mix of strong SUVs and recovering passenger cars. If this momentum continues, the company could enter the coming months with a much stronger overall sales position than it had at the start of the second half of 2026.
