Mahindra Preparing Massive SUV Offensive For 2026-27 With New ICE & EV Launches
Mahindra is gearing up for one of its biggest product expansion phases in recent years as the company plans to introduce multiple new SUVs across both ICE and electric segments during 2026 and 2027. The homegrown SUV giant is expected to strengthen its dominance in India’s fast-growing utility vehicle market with a combination of rugged off-roaders, updated family SUVs, and futuristic EVs.
The company’s strategy clearly shows that Mahindra is not shifting entirely toward electrification just yet. Instead, it plans to maintain a balanced portfolio by continuing investments in diesel and petrol-powered SUVs while simultaneously expanding its born-electric lineup.

One of the most anticipated launches is likely to be the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio-N. The SUV has already become one of the strongest-selling models in the segment, and the updated version is expected to bring refreshed styling, upgraded interiors, more technology features, and improved safety equipment. Mahindra may also introduce Level 2 ADAS upgrades and enhanced connected car functionality to keep the Scorpio-N competitive against rivals like the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus.
Another major launch expected during this period is the next-generation Bolero. The Bolero continues to enjoy massive popularity in rural and semi-urban India thanks to its durability and rugged construction. However, stricter safety and emission norms are pushing Mahindra to modernise the iconic SUV. Reports suggest the new Bolero could feature a completely redesigned platform, updated cabin, modern infotainment features, and improved ride comfort while retaining its tough character.
Mahindra is also expected to further expand its Thar lineup. The company has already witnessed massive success with the Thar Roxx, and future variants or updates could help Mahindra strengthen its position in the lifestyle off-roader category. The electric version of the Thar, previewed earlier through concept models, is also expected to move closer to production during this timeline.

On the EV side, Mahindra’s ambitions are becoming increasingly aggressive. The company has already introduced its born-electric architecture and plans to significantly scale up EV production over the next few years. One of the biggest upcoming electric SUVs will likely be the Mahindra XEV 9S, a three-row premium electric SUV positioned as the EV counterpart to the XUV700. The model is expected to feature futuristic styling, premium interiors, triple-screen dashboard layout, large battery packs, and impressive driving range figures.
Mahindra’s INGLO platform is expected to play a central role in the company’s EV strategy. This dedicated skateboard architecture supports fast charging, larger battery packs, and advanced software integration. The platform already underpins models like the BE 6 and XEV 9e, and several future SUVs are expected to share this architecture.
The BE lineup will also continue expanding. Its futuristic coupe-SUV approach has already generated strong market attention, especially among younger buyers looking for sporty electric vehicles with premium features. Upcoming BE models could target both urban SUV buyers and premium EV enthusiasts.
What makes Mahindra’s upcoming strategy particularly interesting is its ability to cater to multiple customer groups simultaneously. While rural buyers still strongly prefer rugged diesel SUVs like the Bolero and Scorpio, urban customers are increasingly moving toward feature-loaded EVs and premium monocoque SUVs. Mahindra appears ready to tackle both markets aggressively.

Industry experts believe its SUV-heavy approach is helping the company gain stronger market share in India. SUVs continue to dominate passenger vehicle sales, and Mahindra has positioned itself as one of the strongest brands in this segment. The company’s investments in electric mobility also indicate that it wants to become a long-term leader in India’s evolving EV space.
The growing popularity of electric SUVs is another major factor influencing its future roadmap. EV adoption in India remains relatively small compared to ICE vehicles, but the segment is growing steadily due to government incentives, improving charging infrastructure, and rising fuel prices. Mahindra aims for EVs to contribute a significant share of its SUV sales by 2027.
Technology will also become a major focus area for Mahindra’s upcoming vehicles. Buyers today expect large infotainment systems, panoramic sunroofs, ventilated seats, connected car technology, ADAS safety systems, and premium cabin materials even in mainstream SUVs. Mahindra has already started introducing these features across its lineup and is expected to push even further in future products.
Another interesting development is Mahindra’s increasing focus on premium positioning. Models like the XUV700, Scorpio-N, and upcoming EVs clearly show the brand moving toward higher-end segments while still maintaining strong value-for-money appeal.
Overall, the next two years could prove extremely important for Mahindra as it balances traditional ICE SUVs with futuristic electric mobility solutions. With multiple launches planned across segments, the company is preparing to strengthen its already dominant SUV portfolio while building a strong foundation for the EV era.
If Mahindra successfully executes this aggressive product strategy, it could emerge as one of India’s strongest automotive players in both conventional SUVs and electric vehicles by the end of the decade.
