Honda ZR-V Revealed In India: Fastest Honda SUV With 22.8kmpl Mileage And Premium Japanese Quality
Honda has officially unveiled its new flagship SUV for India — the Honda ZR-V. Unlike Honda’s existing locally assembled products, the ZR-V enters India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import in limited numbers, making it one of the most exclusive Honda offerings currently available in the country.
Pre-bookings for the SUV have already begun and the ZR-V arrives with a very different identity compared to anything Honda currently sells in India. Positioned above the City and Elevate, this new SUV focuses heavily on premium quality, hybrid performance and Japanese refinement.
After taking a closer look at the vehicle during its debut, the ZR-V appears to offer several standout qualities, although there are also a few areas where some buyers may expect more. One thing that immediately stands out is the overall build quality.
Because the SUV is being imported directly from Japan, the fit and finish levels feel noticeably premium. Panel gaps appear tight, paint quality feels rich and there is a strong sense of solidity throughout the vehicle.

This is not surprising considering Honda is bringing the Japanese-spec product instead of making local market compromises. The first impression of the ZR-V suggests that Honda has prioritised quality over unnecessary visual drama. The SUV also receives eight airbags, reinforcing Honda’s focus on occupant protection. Step inside and the premium approach continues.
The ZR-V gets a cabin that feels luxurious through material quality and execution rather than flashy styling. Soft-touch surfaces are used generously and most touch points feel rich and tactile. The seats deserve special mention. They offer excellent cushioning and support while maintaining Honda’s traditional comfort-focused character. However, not everyone may find the cabin immediately exciting.
While the quality levels are impressive, the dashboard design remains relatively understated and minimalistic. Some buyers expecting a highly dramatic luxury SUV interior may find the overall layout slightly conservative.
The seating position also feels slightly lower than what many SUV buyers may expect, something that long-time Honda owners could already be familiar with. The centre console carries strong similarities with previous premium Honda products.
The elevated console design, electronic parking brake and button-based gear selector create a more premium and futuristic environment. Honda has also equipped the SUV with a healthy feature list. The ZR-V gets a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Audio duties are handled by a 12-speaker BOSE surround sound system, while convenience features include dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a fully digital instrument cluster.
The SUV also receives a 360-degree camera system and Honda’s advanced ADAS package, making it one of the most technology-packed Hondas sold in India. At the same time, the feature list may not feel class-leading considering the expected pricing. Some premium buyers may notice the absence of a few luxury-focused features offered by rivals.
However, Honda appears to have prioritised driving and ownership experience over creating the longest specification sheet. The biggest talking point of the ZR-V lies under the hood.
Honda has equipped the SUV with its 2.0-litre e:HEV strong hybrid powertrain. This setup produces 182 hp and 315 Nm of torque, making the ZR-V the most powerful mainstream Honda currently available in India. Performance figures are particularly impressive.
Honda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0–100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds, making it the fastest Honda you can buy in India today. That level of acceleration is unexpected from a family-oriented hybrid SUV and puts the ZR-V into a completely different category compared to traditional fuel-focused hybrids. What makes this achievement even more impressive is the claimed fuel economy.
Despite using a large 2.0-litre petrol engine, the hybrid system allows Honda to achieve an efficiency figure of 22.8 kmpl. For a vehicle of this size and performance level, these numbers are difficult to ignore. This is where Honda’s hybrid expertise becomes visible.

The ZR-V uses a 1.05 kWh lithium-ion battery pack as part of its hybrid architecture. This allows the SUV to operate in pure EV mode during low-speed urban conditions. According to available information, the ZR-V can run for approximately 1 mile in electric-only mode, depending on conditions and battery usage.
This capability can significantly improve efficiency during stop-go traffic situations where traditional petrol engines usually consume more fuel. The transition between electric and petrol operation is also expected to remain smooth, continuing Honda’s reputation for refined hybrid systems.
The ZR-V enters India at a time when buyers are increasingly looking for alternatives to conventional turbo-petrol SUVs. Instead of focusing entirely on aggressive styling or oversized displays, Honda appears to have built the ZR-V around refinement, quality and efficient performance.
Its biggest challenge, however, may come from pricing. Since it arrives as a CBU import, pricing is expected to remain premium and availability limited. That means the ZR-V will appeal more to buyers looking for exclusivity rather than outright value. Still, for customers wanting Japanese engineering, premium quality and hybrid performance in one package, the Honda ZR-V could become one of the most interesting SUV launches in India this year.
