Kia Hybrid SUVs Arriving in India: Seltos Hybrid to Sorento Hybrid
Kia India is preparing a major expansion of its hybrid vehicle lineup as the company shifts focus toward electrified mobility in the Indian market. With demand for strong hybrid vehicles increasing rapidly across SUV segments, Kia is now working on multiple hybrid models for India ranging from compact SUVs to premium family-oriented products. The Carnival Hybrid is expected to remain positioned as a luxury people mover focused on comfort, technology, and premium family travel. Reports suggest the hybrid version could arrive closer to 2030. Perhaps the most interesting long-term product is the upcoming Kia Sonet Hybrid. The compact SUV segment is one of the largest and fastest-growing categories in India, and Kia reportedly wants to become one of the first brands to introduce strong hybrid technology in the sub-4 metre SUV segment.
The next-generation Sonet is expected to use an updated platform with improved safety, larger cabin space, and modern electronics architecture. Hybrid technology would help the Sonet compete more effectively against future electrified compact SUVs from Maruti, Hyundai, and Tata Motors.
